DARTERS from Northwich and Winsford played a part to help Cheshire clinch third place in the British Inter County Championship.
A 26-13 aggregate victory at Cambridgeshire featured man of the match performances from Stuart Kellett and Matthew Hunt for the men’s A and B teams respectively.
Kellett, from Lostock Gralam, had a single-dart average of 30.02 in a 4-2 win against Mark Horspool.
Cheshire men’s A ran out 7-5 winners, only to be denied the section title by Yorkshire following their 9-3 success at Lancashire.
Weaverham’s Hunt averaged 30.33 in an 8-4 success for Cheshire men’s B, winning his individual rubber 4-1 against Gary Robertson.
Winsford duo Bev Martin and Andrea Hunt, along with Jane Stubbs from Northwich, were victors as Cheshire women’s A recorded a 5-1 victory against their Cambridgeshire counterparts.
Heidi Williams, also from Winsford, lost a deciding leg against Karen Stanhope as Cheshire women’s B drew 3-3.
Third position overall marks a significant improvement for Cheshire, who narrowly avoided relegation from the top flight last season.
Yorkshire pipped Lancashire to top spot in the Premier Division following a 27-12 success against their rivals in a winner-takes-all clash.
