JUNIOR crews from Northwich completed their preparation for the National Schools’ Regatta later this week with race wins at the Nottingham City Regatta on Saturday.

Northwich Rowing Club’s under 18s boys’ quad of Sam Harte, Leon Langmead, George Lawton and Harry Blake were convincing victors in the final at the National Water Sports Centre.

A boat from neighbours Grange School finished behind them in third.

Matt Strickland-Baker stroked an under 18s boys’ double from the Hartford school, together with Scott Ozsanlav-Harris, to first in class ahead of St Ives.

A composite was first in the women’s IM3 quad too, with Grange’s Illona Webb, Kate Blayney and Katherine Owen joined by Beth Willford-Dutton from Northwich.

Northwich rowers Anya George and India Trigg reached the women’s novice single final, finishing in third and fifth position respectively.

Meanwhile Ben Holt, from Grange School, was fourth in the under 17s boys’ single scull.

On Sunday, Stewart Plant (Northwich) placed second in the men’s Masters B single scull final at the same venue during the Nottingham Masters and Club Regatta.
