GRANGE School Rowing Club members worked together to grab gold during the English Indoor Championships in Manchester at the weekend.
Patrick Lee, James Bell, Archie Simpson and Tom Butler were the fastest to complete 3,000m in the under 14 boys’ team event, timing 10:08.9 to finish almost 14 seconds clear of closest rivals Queen’s Park.
Earlier on Sunday, Lee took individual bronze in the same age category.
Bradley Strickland-Baker scooped silver in the under 13s boys’ event, just three metres adrift of victor Harry Stanyer (Woodsmoor).
Jack McGinn narrowly missed out on a medal after classifying fourth.
The Hartford school’s under 13s girls’ team, competing against older rivals in the under 14s class, ranked sixth.
“There were a whole host of great results and personal best from our newest members,” said head coach Graham Jump.
Northwich Rowing Club’s Beth Willford-Dutton was a convincing winner in the under 16s girls’ category, covering 2,000m in 7:31.1 to finish 20 seconds clear of the next best in the field.
Clubmate Anya George was sixth.
Claire Irons claimed a silver medal in the women’s 30-39 class, as did Charlotte Almond among the under 14s girls.
A third second-place finish for Northwich followed in the under 18s girls’ team event.
