Carter's Black Squad seal title
TED Carter’s Black finished the Northwich Mini League as champions after the final round of the season on the River Weaver on Saturday.
Leading the way in a close finish was Bream Team’s Chris Simmons, pegged on the willow beds length, with a bream catch of 24lb 13oz.
He was followed by Martin Lenihen, Ballyforce, with 23lb 14oz from the blackboards stretch and in third place by Paul Taylor, VR Reds, with 20lb 12oz.
But the league champions were long-time leaders Black Squad with 39 points, followed by VR Reds with 64 and Ballyforce with 66.
The river reopens and league begins again in June.
