A SIR John Deane’s College student is gearing up for the National Junior Road Races Series, the next step towards achieving his dream of professional cycling.

Jacob Booth, who rides for Northwich-based Dave Hinde Racing Team, recently returned from a training camp in Majorca ahead of the event-opener in Wales later this month.

The 17-year-old, from Middlewich, was training with Great Britain’s junior cycling team and is looking for a top 10 finish in the nationals.

“I’ve put in a lot of hard work over the winter and now feel like I’m in great position to really compete and fight for those top 10 places,” he said.

Having only spent two years in the saddle Booth has achieved huge success, but will now be juggling A-Levels with training six nights per week.

“The cycling acts as relief from studying and vice versa so I am really enjoying both at the moment,” he added.
