WINNINGTON Ladies had to be at their best to see off their relegation-threatened neighbours on Saturday, securing a top four finish in Cheshire League Division One as a reward.
Knutsford harassed Park’s forwards, restricting their time on the ball, but the hosts took the lead with a deflection by Rhona Logie off Leona Wyllie’s cross.
In-form Logie claimed the home team’s second goal shortly before half time, and they survived a scare when Lauren Miller cleared from the goal-line.
Park’s third arrived from a short corner slotted home by Chris Davies on an afternoon when Winnington goalkeeper Karen Smith celebrated a maiden shutout this season.
Winnington’s second team lost 6-3 at Lymm thirds in Division Three, Katie Binns contributing a double while Jasmine Barlow scored the visitors’ other goal.
