TESSA McCormick ran for an England quartet that dominated the junior women’s field during Sunday’s Cross de Atapuerca in Spain.

The Vale Royal Athletics Club member crossed the line fourth overall in 13:47 at the end of a 4km race run in windy conditions.

Teammates Lydia Turner, Harriet Knowles-Jones and Jenny Nesbitt occupied the positions ahead of the 19-year-old.

Elliot Bowker, also of Vale Royal, was the youngest member of England’s junior men’s team in Burgos.

He made up a lot of ground to finish 11th in 18:26, second counter behind seventh-placed Charlie Joslin-Allen.

Kieran Wood followed Sir John Deane’s College student Bowker, 17, across the line while James McMurray struggled with the conditions to classify outside the top 20.
