PARK were defiant in defeat at the final whistle.

They gave promotion hopefuls Lymm a scare after second half performance full of heart, spirit and style.

All that after they trailed 0-24 at the break.

Mistakes and poor decision making cost the home side dearly and they were soon behind to an early converted score.

Further errors were punished ruthlessly as Lymm added two push over tries after good work in the lineout work.

A penalty completed the first half scoring.

Mark Warr's men were a team transformed after the interval as their forwards began to win clean ball, allowing star man Sam Barton to dictate the game.

And it was from one of his breaks that Will Burgess took the ball at pace and barged his way over the line to start the comeback. Ben Elliot converted.

Elliot began to use the wind to put Park in the right areas of the pitch and hooker Joe Robbins scored another try from close range after good work around the ruck. The next score was worth the pick of the bunch as a quick tap by Barton was finished off by Carl Patterson to make it 17-24 with a 15 minutes left.

But Lymm dashed their hopes when they crept over at the other end.

"There is hope for the coming weeks if that intensity and style of fast, flowing rugby can be maintained," said Warr afterwards.
