NORTHWICH returned home without scoring a point for the second time this season.
League leaders Chester gave improving Blacks a reality check as they consolidated their position as favourites to return to North One.
"They showed us what we must aspire to," said Northwich chairman Sam Naylor.

"We must match their level of fitness and technique to have any chance of moving up to a higher level."
Man for man Chester just had the edge on their guests and, had Northwich not fought tooth and nail to compete, a 50-pointer could have been the outcome.
Blacks were insignificant in the first quarter and had no answer to the hosts' driving mauls from which forwards Steve Roberts and Ross White scored tries before seasoned centre Simon Verbickas cut through to add a third.
The normally reliable Tom Foden was unable to improve on the touchdowns.
Richard Dale's try was chalked off after referee Will Halford claimed he was unsighted.
Northwich also gave as good as they got in the pack and came close with a few driving mauls but time after time the Chester defence held firm.
They were solid during the second half, using all three replacements, but they could not prevent their hosts notching two further tries through Gareth Martin and Liam Lawton.
