FORMER Vics midfielder Stuart Elliott says he would consider a move back to the Marston's Arena.
The 30-year-old was released by York City on Thursday after just one season at KitKat Crescent.
"I would like to talk in the future if they are interested," he told the York Press at the weekend, before revealing that Dino Maamria asked him to return during the January transfer window.
Elliott suspected the writing was on the wall for him when City boss Colin Walker gave him the go ahead to join Northwich on loan.
He turned down the move.
"I didn't stay at York to prove anybody wrong. I'm just a professional with professional pride and I wanted to do the best I possibly could," he added.
"I knew what was coming at York. I'm not a naive kid and I'm old enough to realise that if you are offered the chance to go out on loan at an important stage of the season like January, it gives you an indication of what might be around the corner."
Two Blue Square Premier clubs, not including Northwich, contacted him on Thursday about a move when it became clear he would be a free agent, prompting him to promise a return to KitKat Crescent next season.
He added: "I feel I'm good enough to carry on playing at Conference level without a shadow of doubt. It's up to Conference managers whether they want me."
Elliott joined Northwich from Gateshead in 2005, playing a pivotal role in Steve Burr's Conference North title winning side.
He left, along with Paul Brayson, for full time football at York last summer, after making 60 appearances in two seasons.
