VICS have drafted in former England international Paul Warhurst.

The defender, now 37, has signed on non contract terms for Neil Redfearn's men after he was released by Barnet at the end of last term.

He goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's clash with Histon at the Victoria Stadium.

And the Stockport-born stopper will be joined by Barnsley youngster Simon Heslop.

Redfearn has raided his former club for a second in as many weeks after landing front runner Michael Coulson before the transfer deadline.

Midfielder Heslop, 20, will spend a month with Northwich after spending spells on loan at Kidderminster Harriers and Tamworth in recent seasons.

Redfearn is waiting on the FA to clear a third signing - central defender Gareth Evans.

The 20-year-old Wrexham stopper needs international clearance to play in the Blue Square Premier, so may have to wait to make his debut at Halifax Town on Tuesday.

He too would join on a loan deal.
