NORTHWICH launch their latest bid to win promotion to the national league for the first time with back-to-back home matches.

Blacks blamed a poor start – they lost three of their opening five matches in North One West – for failing to reach the play-offs for a second successive season last term.

However with three of their first four matches at Moss Farm in September they will be hopeful of avoiding a repeat.

Newly-promoted Anselmians, crowned champions in South Lancashire & Cheshire Division One in April, are the first team in town on Saturday, September 3.

Wilmslow follow seven days later.

Northwich, next term to be skippered by Sam Naylor jnr, head to Leigh on September 17 before closing the month with a visit from another promoted team, Widnes.

Blacks protect a two-years unbeaten run in league matches on their home turf – a sequence of 26 successive wins – dating back to April 18, 2009.

The 14-team section includes Aspatria, promoted from the Northern Division’s North Lancashire & Cumbria pool, and Rochdale following their relegation from National League Three North.

Meanwhile Carlisle move sideward from North One East.
