TEENAGERS at Northwich Rugby Club have received an award in recognition of their behaviour on the pitch during the latest North West Colts League season.

Blacks’ seniors Duncan Jackson and Billy Cole, along with coach Dave Cole, were presented with the John Munn Fair Play Trophy during the competition’s presentation evening at Bowdon on Thursday.

They were nominated by rival teams, who acknowledge the Moss Farm outfit’s impeccable disciplinary record.

“I’ve always maintained it’s the way we play, and how united we are, that has made us into the side we’ve become,” said Cole.

“As a group of young men, their spirit and togetherness is second to nobody.”

Northwich ended the Conference League campaign ranked sixth in Division D.

Before that they had classified fifth in the fourth tier of a preliminary competition before Christmas, during which they saw off eventual champions Sedgley Park.

Following a 36-14 reverse at Crewe & Nantwich in the Senior Plate last weekend, they head next to Tarleton this Sunday in the Shield first round.
