ALAN Jack hopes Northwich prove they can be ruthless when they launch a bid to play at Twickenham this weekend.

Blacks host Aspatria, from the North Lancs/Cumbria division, in an RFU Intermediate Cup Northern Pool One encounter, kick off 2.15pm.

Their guests lost to Blackburn in their group stage opener in November, so must win.

“It’s the latest test during what is a big month for us,” said the Northwich head coach.

“If you look at it cynically, we’re a handful of wins from playing in a final.

“The fact it’s at Twickenham is a big carrot.

“Going into a win or lose game will be a good challenge, because we know we have to deliver. There’s no second chance, but I think that’s healthy for us.”

It’s a trait his side has demonstrated admirably in efficient demolitions of Manchester and Manchester Medics over the past fortnight, amassing more than 100 points.

Northwich are no strangers to the home of English rugby either, lifting the RFU Senior Vase there in 2007 after beating Bradford Salem in the final.

Jack said: “We’ll give it a good go in this competition and see what happens.

“If we go on a run, then it will lift our profile.”
