Supersport wildcard for Jones

CRAIG Jones is coming home to race later this month.

The Northwich ace plans to take part in the fourth round of the British Supersport championship at Donington Park.

He says he can't wait.

"It will be a relaxing and enjoyable meeting for me," he said.

His team, Parkalgar Honda, are using the meeting as a test for the Supersport World Championship round at the same circuit later in the year.

Jones, 23, won there four years ago when he was contesting the British competition full time.

He added: "Getting back to the British paddock and on a track I love, I am sure I'll be giving it my all."

Title rivals Andrew Pitt and Johnny Rea will also wildcard in the same race.

Jones, who broke his left hand in a crash ahead of the last round in Monza, hopes to be back to full fitness in time for Donington.

"I don't expect there to be any problems," he said.

"I am really looking forward to racing in front of the British fans again; this is a real bonus for me and the whole team."

Portuguese teammate Miguel Praia will be joining the action as well.

Practice takes place on Saturday, May 24 ahead of qualifying the following day.

The race takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 26, at 1.50pm.

"The idea is to give us data and settings for when we return to the track in September," said team boss Simon Buckmaster.

"But on top of that, we are a British based team and we enjoy racing as well, so while there is a serious angle we will also be going for the win."
