MATTHEW Hammond endured a day to forget at Snetterton on Saturday.
The Middlewich driver was forced to quit the opening round of the Classic Sports Car Club's Tin Top Series after a drive shaft problem made his Honda Accord impossible to race.
He pulled out of the running less than halfway through the 40-minute race.

"It felt unsafe to drive," he said afterwards.
"I'm disappointed because the car was running really well and we had a great start.
"But the car started pulling violently to the left and the vibrations made me think I had picked up a puncture."
Hammond, sharing his car with Accord Motorsport team boss Julian Gammage, had qualified third on the grid at the Norfolk circuit. A late change of plan meant the family run outfit did not run their second Honda Accord.
They intend to rebuild their second car with a new engine and gearbox.
The team did have something to smile about after new boys Thomas Oliesky and Ernie Hammond, Matthew's father, both finished on their racing debuts.
Teenager Oliesky finished 13th after running most of the race inside the top 10, while Hammond senior enjoyed a trouble free afternoon in crossing the line 17th.
Both were driving Ford Fiestas acquired by the team over the winter.
"For my first race I was pleased with how it went," said Ernie.
