MARK Wakefield recovered from an accident in practice to finish inside the top ten at the latest round of Manchester and Buxton Kart Club’s Minimax championship.
The Weaverham High School pupil recovered to finish ninth in the final at Wigan’s Three Sisters circuit the following day.
It leaves him fifth in the drivers’ standings after as many rounds.
“It’s a great result considering what had happened and the fact that there were 32 karts on the grid,” said dad Nigel Wakefield.
His son, now racing for Sweeney Motorsport, was eighth, sixth and 17th respectively in the three heats before sneaking inside the top ten later in the day.
Lewis Binks tops the standings as the only driver to have passed 200 points for the term.
