THE annual Oulton Park Gold Cup event for historic cars this weekend celebrates 60 years since the Cheshire circuit hosted its inaugural race in 1953.
More than 400 entries make up a programme headlined by the Derek Bell Trophy, a contest for Formula 2 and Formula 5000 cars that previously competed for the Gold Cup.
A new addition to the bill is the Super Touring Trophy, a series that celebrates a golden era for the British Touring Car Championship from the 1970s through to the 1990s.
Double champion John Cleland will be on track in his title-winning Vauxhall Vectra from 1997.
He is joined by BTCC legends Patrick Watts and Tim Harvey.
Other races on the bill include the E-Type Challenge for Jaguar’s classic machine, plus races for single-seaters, sports and GT cars from the 1950s onwards.
The Gold Cup meeting runs from Saturday through to Monday.
