ADAM Lakeland has urged Northwich Victoria’s players to use Saturday’s success as a catalyst for a consistent run of results.

A brace from Godwin Abadaki secured maximum points against Bedworth, meaning Vics have won three - and lost as many – of their past half-dozen matches.

Testing away trips to Belper, on Tuesday night, and then Stamford at the weekend await.

“Hopefully we can continue to deliver positive results for our supporters,” said Lakeland.

“We agreed before the game that we have to work hard to improve our consistency, so I was pleased to see everybody focused and determined.

“I was especially happy to keep a clean sheet, one which everybody from back to front contributed to.”

Goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe had been called into action to push Elliot Parrott’s shot to safety before the hosts took the lead on 11 minutes.

Abadaki finished smartly after Yaw Gyimah’s initial attempt had been diverted into his path by defender Mark Albrighton.

Vics assumed control, with Matthew Clarke firing high from a free kick and Jamie Hinchliffe shooting across the face of goal.

The latter ought to have scored after half an hour too when Abadaki teed him up.

Bedworth might have reached the break level after Iyseden Christie flicked on Luke Rowe’s pass for Daniel Creaney to run clear.

However Springthorpe made a miraculous stop to thwart him, described by Lakeland afterwards as ‘the save of the season.’

The visitors felt they should have had a penalty at the start of the second period when Christie fell under pressure from Andrew Fitzgerald.

Their mood will not have lightened when Abadaki doubled Vics’ lead with a well-placed attempt from the edge of the area after full-back Kieran Nolan had burst forward on the right.
