Northwich Victoria 2 Macclesfield Town 3

VICS were beaten by higher-ranked Macclesfield Town in the Cheshire FA Senior Cup final at Nantwich’s Weaver Stadium on Tuesday.

Waide Fairhust and Theo Bailey-Jones gave Town a two-goal lead before Joshua Amis and Abou Sanogo levelled, only for Danny Rowe to score a late winner.

Rowe had the game’s first shot on target five minutes in and a period of prolonged pressure on the Vics goals ensued.

That pressure told when Fairhurst slammed in a left-footed shot from 20 yards on 20 minutes, with Macclesfield adding to their advantage two minutes before the break through Bailey-Jones.

Vics responded quickly, however, and after Sanogo had seen a shot saved it was Amis who turned in before half time.

With 21 minutes left Sanogo powerfully headed home to level for Vics, but that parity would not last as five minutes from time Rowe bagged the winner.

Vics: Smith (GK), Smalley, Grayson (Summerskill 60), Ali, Clarke, Henry, Cook, Roddy (Fishwick 85), Burnett, Amis, Sanogo.
