WINSFORD Saxons succumbed to higher-ranked opponents in the Crewe and District FA Cup last four.

The Crewe and District League outfit held their own for an hour before Congleton Vale, who play in the Cheshire League’s top-flight, made their class tell to run out 5-1 victors.

Jack Johnson’s hat-trick was a highlight for Over 3 Grange as they progressed to the Crewe and District FA Junior Shield final at the expense of Winsford United’s reserves.

Sam Dodds, Zak Finnigan and Darren Fox netted too in a 6-0 win at Knights Grange.

Clock Tower swapped places with Witton Albion’s reserves in the table following a 3-0 win at Moss Farm.

Jordan Sherlock put them in front before Max Brown converted a penalty in the second-half.

Matthew Thorpe curled a shot into the top-corner to add gloss.

Winnington Avenue 1994 extended an unbeaten sequence to four matches when they edged Madeley White Star by the odd goal in five at Jubilee Field.

Jamie Hayes, Ben Lambert and Ashley Wells were on target.
