Champions Knutsford boast unblemished record after first five matches of Cheshire League season

CHAMPIONS Knutsford’s lead at the Cheshire League summit is worth five points after as many wins to date this term.
Simon Williamson’s goal proved enough to pinch the points at Division One newcomers Crewe on Saturday, while Lee Shakoor’s treble earned a victory against title rivals Eagle Sports in midweek.
Unbeaten Greenalls occupy second spot in the standings, Lee Deakin’s hat-trick a highlight of their five-goals drubbing of Grappenhall Sports on Tuesday.
They shared four goals with Warrington neighbours Eagle on Friday, when in-form Deakin was again on the mark.
Gamesley are the top tier’s other team yet to lose, an eight-goals thriller against Grappenhall at the weekend following a fine 3-0 success against newcomers Whaley Bridge three days earlier.
Title hopefuls Lostock Gralam endured a week to forget, losing back-to-back home matches against Linotype – for whom Sam Pollard struck the game’s only goal – and then Whaley Bridge.
It leaves the Grey Lambs already nine points adrift of leaders Knutsford.
Garswood United recorded successive wins this week at the expense of Billinge and Pilkington respectively, while Denton Town did for the former by the odd goal in seven on Saturday.
Adam Morris is finding the move to management difficult, Middlewich Town slipping to a fourth successive defeat at the weekend when Lee McIntyre and Reece Davies scored for Styal at Seddon Street.
Crewe had left town with maximum points on Wednesday, coming from behind to win 3-1 after Sam O’Sullivan had put the Witches ahead.
Substitute Patrick Naughton was Rylands’ match-winner against Linotype, his late goal securing a 2-1 success.
