BARNTON Wanderers’ two teams recorded rare win in the Crewe and District League at the weekend, writes Mike Talbot-Butler.
After having four points deducted earlier in the week for fielding an ineligible player, the senior team defeated neighbours Barnton reserves at Town Field.
Callum Sayle, Ryan Millington and Tom Hamlet were on target for the victors.
Wanderers’ reserves won 3-2 at Bentley, where Jack Didsbury, Harry Patten and Adam Rogers scored their goals.
Leaders Cuddington cruised to victory in their top-of-the-table clash with MMU Cheshire B at Norley Road.
Ollie James (2), Nathan Harwood and Mike Abbott hit the net for the title favourites, who now enjoy a seven-points’ advantage over Malpas reserves.
The latter edged out Winnington Avenue by the odd goal in three on Saturday, Steve Hughes’ accounting for the Northwich outfit’s reply.
