OLLIE Ryan’s hat-trick eased holders Northwich Victoria into the last four at the expense of Evo-Stik League Premier Division rivals Nantwich Town, writes Andrew Simpson.
Andy Preece’s men, who have now won six successive matches in the competition, had the tie sewn up by half time after top scorer Ryan found the net either side of Mark Peers’ stylish strike.
Jake Sedgemore’s swerving drive from distance briefly gave the Dabbers hope, only for skipper Chris Flynn to head into his own goal to settle the outcome.
Substitute Sam Aspinwall reduced the visitors’ arrears again before ex-Boston United goals-getter Ryan raced clear to complete a personal treble in stoppage time.
Vics are joined in the semi finals by Warrington Town, who scored in each half to see off lower-ranked Congleton Town – conquerors of Chester FC in the previous round – at Cantilever Stadium.
Gavin Salmon and Mike Duffy were on target in a 2-0 win.
Alsager Town’s scheduled clash with Woodley Sports was postponed due to a frozen pitch, while Runcorn Linnets must wait to host Altrincham – the highest-ranked team left in the competition – as the Robins were on FA Trophy duty at Curzon Ashton.
No new date has yet been set.
