PACESETTERS Greenalls opened up a six points lead at the top of Division One after putting nine goals without reply past Golborne Sports, writes Rob Wood.

The Warrington outfit has won six of their first seven matches.

Top tier newcomers Lostock Gralam slip a place to third position following their heavy defeat at Eagle Sports, allowing Pilkington to move ahead after beating Middlewich Town.

Styal keep up the pressure on the leading teams after edging out Knutsford by the odd goal in three.

The day’s other winners include Tarporley Victoria and Garswood United, derby day victors at neighbours Billinge, while Rylands shared six goals with last term’s runners-up Northwich Villa.

Meanwhile champions Club AZ could not find a way past Gamesley in their goalless stalemate.

In Division Two Grappenhall Sports closed the gap to leaders Denton Town after beating Runcorn Town’s reserves.

Ged Bushell bagged a brace for the losers.

Third-placed Rudheath Social were held by Whitchurch Alport, while Monk FC edged a seven-goals thriller at Hillock Lane against Malpas.

Congleton Town reserves and Crewe FC proved too strong for Barnton and Moore United respectively.
