Greenalls PSO lead the way after three successive victories in first week

GREENALLS PSO are the only team to boast an unblemished record after the Cheshire League season’s first seven days, writes Rob Wood.

They won by the odd goal at Knutsford, who had won each of their opening matches, to go clear at the top of Division One on Saturday night.

Billinge, victors at Eagle Sports, lead the chasing pack.

Only two teams – Garswood United and Linotype – remain pointless after defeats against champions Club AZ and newcomers Tarporley Victoria.

Pilkington were the day’s top scorers after finding the net four times against Gamesley, while the Saturday’s other victors were Lostock Gralam and Styal.

Neil Bithell’s men bagged local bragging rights following a derby win at neighbours Middlewich Town, while Styal picked up their first points at Northwich Villa.

Rylands shared the spoils with Golborne after a 2-2 draw.

In Division Two there is also only one team, Denton Town, with maximum points after they thrashed Daten.

Barnton and Whitchurch Alport were among the goals too, both putting four past Congleton Town reserves and Maine Road reserves respectively.

Grappenhall Sports maintained their pursuit of the early leaders by beatng Malpas.

The other winners on the day were Moore United, at Poynton.

There were no goals at Monk, where Crewe FC were the visitors, while Rudheath Social points after they were held at home by Runcorn Town reserves.
