BARNTON twice lost the lead as they gave Division Two promotion hopefuls Moore United a fright on the season’s opening day at Town Field.
Debutant Greg Lumsden scored his first goal in black and white on 12 minutes, finishing a fine move involving first Jamie Williams and then Adam Davenport.
Moore levelled after the break through Scott Taylor’s well-struck shot, but Barnton were back in front on the hour when Williams teed up Lumsden for his second goal.
The Warrington outfit poured forward in search of a second equaliser, which they found courtesy of Lee Willott’s stoppage time penalty after a defender had been punished for handball.
“We had chances to extend our lead at 1-0,” rued Barnton boss Mick Duckett afterwards.
“But we wasted them and eventually were punished, although I felt the penalty decision was a harsh one.”
