Match of the Day
Witton Albion v Hednesford Town
Witton’s reaction to a midweek humbling by lowly Halesowen is important, particularly as they remain very much in a race to secure a play-offs place.
Their guests on Saturday will probably consider that aim beyond them – they sit three points adrift of seventh-placed Albion, who have a game in hand – after winning only one of their past eight Northern Premier League matches.
The Pitmen are seeking a Premier Division double against Carl Macauley’s men following a 1-0 win in the return.
Their record against Albion is encouraging too; they have avoided defeat in each of the teams’ past half-dozen meetings.
It’s an important afternoon for…
Barnton
The Villagers’ relegation from the North West Counties League’s top-flight was confirmed following a 7-0 hammering at home by an in-form Squires Gate in midweek.
While manager Steve Lloyd indicated earlier this month that attention had started to turn already to next season, that process will begin officially from this weekend.
Abbey Hey are the visitors to Townfield, and the home team will want to react after a night to forget on Wednesday.
Our inevitable relegation was last night confirmed from the Prem, it’s not like we didn’t see it coming

It’s been a tough season both on & off the pitch but it won’t break us @barntonfc, keeping at it right to the end is the only way to respond & set up our future #Villagers
And what about…
Barnton Wanderers v Winsford Saxons
The home team’s credentials for the Crewe and District League Premier Division title will be tested by Winsford Saxons – who have finished first in each of the past two seasons.
The champions are 24 points adrift of their hosts on Saturday, but have eight games in hand.
They will be buoyed too by a 5-2 win against the same opponents when they met in the AJ Cooke Trophy last month.
Why not go and give your local side a cheer?
