IN windy conditions, it was Halesowen that were blown away by an irrepressible Witton Albion.

Carl Macauley’s men sit second in the standings after following up a stunning away performance at the weekend with another.

Prince Haywood, from a free-kick, and James Foley had already gone close before the visitors took the lead after quarter of an hour.

Will Jones fired low into the net after Matty Devine’s shot had been blocked by a defender.

A second goal followed when Steven Tames sent a penalty in the opposite direction to goalkeeper Daniel Platt’s dive after Jones’ strike had been handled.

Tails up, Albion deserved more than for Foley’s attempt to be charged down after a dazzling combination between Jones, Tames and Rob Hopley.

Platt then produced a fine save to thwart Tames after Ben Hedley had linked with Devine.

With the wind behind them in the second period, the pattern did not change.

Halesowen did halve their arrears though after an hour when Jack Kelly found the net after the ball had bobbled around Albion’s area.

Hedley produced an audacious attempt from the right touchline that Platt palmed over his bar, and from the resulting flag-kick Nick Ryan was unlucky to see his attempt strike the underside of the bar.

Devine and Foley then swapped passes to tee up Haywood who, after tricky footwork, sent a shot just over.

Referee Scott Postin came to Witton’s rescue when he ruled out a Yeltz goal for a foul on goalkeeper Calvin Hare.

Platt parried a Jones shot before the front man spurned a chance created by Haywood.

However a third goal did arrive with time running out when Haywood blasted in after Platt – picked by the match sponsors as Halesowen’s best player – had flapped at Foley’s corner.
