WITTON Albion’s reserves made an instant impact on the Crewe and District League by defeating the defending champions on their debut.

Mario Veloso, Ashley Wells and substitute James Rodgers were on target for the newcomers at Moss Farm where full-back Danny Adigun – who made a handful of appearances for the first team last season – was in the hosts’ starting line-up.

Danny Griffiths’ brace proved in vain for Winnington 1994 when they lost by the odd goal in seven at Winsford United’s reserves at the weekend.

However when he repeated the trick last night, Wednesday, it earned maximum points for his side against Winnington Avenue.

Ben Chapman scored their other goal in a 3-0 win at Jubilee Field.

Avenue have opened up with back-to-back defeats, and Lewis Fenlon’s strike against Sandbach Town last Saturday was a consolation in a 3-1 defeat.

Barnton Wanderers lost 2-1 at home to Winsford Over 3 Grange in their midweek curtain-raiser.
