LEADING scorer Brad Bauress is Witton Albion’s biggest injury doubt ahead of a meeting with fellow promotion-hopefuls Leek Town tonight.

The midfielder increased his goal tally for the campaign to 23 by scoring the winner at Spalding on Saturday before suffering a knee injury later in the game.

He limped off as a result, although manager Carl Macauley rates the in-form 20-year-old’s chances of taking part as ‘better than 50-50’.

Full-back Matty Devine has responded well to treatment on a hamstring injury, and could return to the Albion starting line-up.

Witton sit second in the Northern Premier League’s Division One South at kick off, nine points adrift of Shaw Lane with two games in hand.

The leaders are at Romulus later.

Macauley’s men attempt to protect an unbeaten home record, which has yielded 10 wins from 13 games, against opponents managed by ex-Albion midfielder Ant Danylyk.

The visitors slipped have slipped from the promotion play-offs places following a 1-0 defeat at home to Belper on Saturday that ended a five-match unbeaten run.

Before that, they were held at Harrison Park by Stocksbridge.

Influential front man Jordan Johnson is out for the rest of the season after dislocating an elbow, but former Witton men Darren Chadwick, Jon Beaumont, Toby Mullarkey and Paul Donnelly could all feature.
