NO matter what the obstacle, or how high, Witton Albion find a way over it.

Carl Macauley’s men continued a pursuit of Shaw Lane, and with it the Northern Premier League’s Division One South title, by extending an unbeaten run to 11 matches on Tuesday.

However they remain nine points adrift of the runaway leaders with two games in hand.

A goal in each half secured maximum points against a Diamonds side that has now lost their past three matches, leaving them outside of the promotion play-offs places.

The visitors survived an early scare, when Jack Bowen prompted debutant goalkeeper Calvin Hare to save smartly, before taking the lead after quarter of an hour.

Steven Tames was first to a loose ball after custodian Ben Heath had parried Tom Owens’ attempt, volleying into the net.

And Albion almost doubled their lead when Brad Bauress’ shot, after Will Jones teed him up, struck the inside of an upright with Heath beaten.

The outcome was settled during a two-minute spell in the second period started by Taylor Orosz’ driven effort for the home team rattling a post.

Witton, ruthless, made it 2-0 from their next attack.

After Paul Williams switched play from left to right, captain Anthony Gardner surged forward.

His lofted cross reached Rob Hopley, who swivelled to control before blasting past Heath from close range.
