WITTON Albion’s midfield will have a more familiar feel for the visit of Belper Town tonight following the return of Paul Williams and Prince Haywood.

The duo were both absent for Saturday’s single-goal success against Bedworth due to work commitments.

“They’re key players for us,” said manager Carl Macauley.

“The boys that filled in for them gave it their best shot, and they did make an impact.

“The challenge I have is that those lads are a little short of match fitness, which doesn’t help when you have to make four or five changes at once [like we did].

“We’re trying to build up the likes of Danny [Reynolds] so he’s in peak condition, and it’s the same with the likes of Karl Noon and also Jamie Hinchliffe as well.”

The former Marine boss will wait until the last possible moment to decide on whether to recall goalkeeper Danny Roberts or full-back Matty Devine (ankle) after they both failed a fitness test at the weekend.

The former has missed the past two matches after sustaining an injury in a 2-1 win at Basford, while the latter aggravated a long-standing problem in the same game.

Macauley said: “Matty is a massive player for us, and fingers crossed he’ll be ok.

“To be fair, he’s been struggling since before Christmas after hurting himself in the FA Trophy game against Chester.

“It’s niggled him, and probably taken a toll the past few weeks.”

Meanwhile Albion are still waiting on international clearance for forward Will Jones, with whom they agreed terms last week on a switch from Colwyn Bay.

Kick off tonight is 7.45pm.
