STEVE Lloyd, Barnton’s manager, has warned his side to be ready for further tests after recording what he feels is their best win to date.

They host West Didsbury & Chorlton this afternoon after moving further from the North West Counties League Premier Division drop zone by completing a double over AFC Liverpool seven days ago.

The distance to third-bottom Nelson is now 18 points.

“It was a crucial win – we’ve not had a better result,” said the Villagers’ boss.

“That’s good for morale, and it’s critical we build on that.

“We head into the weekend with a spring in our step, and the lads know the performance levels we’ll need to reach if we’re to keep putting points on the board.”

Kick off this afternoon is 3pm.

After a goalless first half against Reds last Saturday, the hosts hit the front when Jack Leamey’s swerving shot found its way past custodian Matt Conkie.

Lloyd’s side found an equaliser when Jason McShane converted Chris Smith’s cross.

And McShane wasn’t finished, sealing a superb recovery with a looping header as time ran out.

Lloyd has everybody available to take on West, including central defender Danny Meadowcroft.

Today's visitors have lost three of their past four matches in the North West Counties League's top flight, slipping to ninth in the table.

However they won the return game 4-1 back in September.
