WITTON Albion scored three times in six second-half minutes on Saturday to settle the outcome of a contest that was closer than the score-line suggests.

Carl Macauley’s men, in particular on-loan attacker Tolani Omotola, were more clinical than their hosts.

The teenager’s temporary stay has been extended for a third month, and he celebrated with a hat-trick that increases his tally for the campaign to 11 goals in as many starts.

The first of those, a header four minutes before the break after fellow forward Rob Hopley had helped on Anthony Gardner’s long throw, came against the run of play.

Albion had been second-best from the first whistle, staying on terms with Bedworth thanks to an impressive performance from goalkeeper Danny Roberts.

He denied Kieron Brehon inside the first five minutes, repeating the trick when Iyseden Christie volleyed towards goal shortly afterwards.

Jordan Archer went close too before Roberts produced his best stop to thwart Justin Marsden after he cut inside from the right flank.

Marsden fluffed his next chance, in the moments after Omotola’s opener, while Christie failed to make a clean connection when Richard Blythe teed him up.

Albion’s flurry of goals after the interval left the home team unable to react.

Hopley directed a ball into the net that rebounded back to him after a defender blocked his initial attempt on 55 minutes.

Omotola then scampered clear after Bedworth surrendered possession, skipping around goalkeeper James Martin before rolling in the visitors’ third goal.

And the 18-year-old, who signed a professional contract with Tranmere Rovers during the summer, completed a personal treble when he pounced on another loose ball after Martin saved Hopley’s effort from a set piece.

Archer headed too high as Bedworth tried to respond, but they had definitive proof it was not their day when full-back Luke Rowe’s free kick struck the inside of a post with time running out.
