NORTHWICH Victoria manager Adam Lakeland admits he was left scratching his head following his side's latest league defeat on Saturday.

It left them without a win in seven attempts so far this season ahead of tonight's trip to Chasetown, kick off 7.45pm.

"I don't know how we lost," said Vics' boss afterwards.

"I think they had two shots at goal in the first 70 minutes and found themselves 2-0 up. It's unbelievable, and tough to take.

“Our performances on the whole have been good, but as manager I'm judged on results.

"And so far they haven’t been good enough.”

The hosts took the lead when Jake Lovatt raced onto a long ball and lobbed goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe as he advanced from his line.

Jordan Cole took advantage of defensive indecision to smash home a second goal before substitute Matty Clarke pulled one back for the visitors.

“I'm satisfied with the effort of the players; their attitude is fantastic and the general level of performances in every game has been reasonable,” added Lakeland.

“I can assure the fans the players and staff are working harder than ever to end this run of results.”
