RUDHEATH’S forward progress has been halted by back-to-back defeats in the Cheshire League’s top flight over the past seven days.

Daniel Buehler’s goal six minutes from time condemned them to a 2-1 reverse last Wednesday, when Congleton Vale visited Park Stadium.

The away side had taken the lead when Thomas Jackson headed in from a corner, only for Cam Bradley to convert in the same way from Steve Warburton’s flag kick at the other end.

Social were on the wrong end of a six-goal drubbing at Altrincham reserves on Saturday.

Doubles for Rhain Davies and Boris Melingui, plus strikes from Tom Clarke and Joseph Faux, completed an afternoon to forget.

“We should be doing a million times better than that,” reflected co-manager Ben Smith.

“It was embarrassing.

“We believe in this group, and we need to roll up our sleeves.”

Lostock Gralam sit third in League One after collecting four points from their past two matches.

A goalless stalemate at home to FC St Helens on Saturday followed a 4-2 win at Cheadle reserves in midweek.

James Dean, Robbie Jones, Will Reid and Myles Wady scored for the Grey Lambs.

Cuddington had reason to feel regret after letting slip a 3-1 interval lead at newcomers Broadheath Central in League Two Sam Tomkinson, twice, and Josh Mainwaring found the net before the hosts recovered to earn a share of the spoils.

Barnton’s reserves went down 3-2 at home to leaders Windle Labour in the same section.

Liam Goff’s strike, plus an own goal, kept the men from Townfield in contention at half-time.

However Stephen Woodward’s dismissal, along with a decisive goal from substitute John Bailey, settled the outcome the visitors’ way.
