NORTHWICH Victoria try again to knock out their league rivals from the FA Trophy in a replay tonight, Wednesday.

A home date with Stocksbridge Park Steels, along with £2,500 in prize money, is the reward on offer for the victors.

And the Dolly Blues, after appointing Phil Brown as first-team manager on Monday, will have a new man in the dugout at Wincham Park.

He watched on as Matthew Poole’s second-half equaliser on Saturday cancelled out Iain Howard’s early opener.

It took just two minutes for Jim Gannon’s side to take the lead, Abou Sanogo heading across the six-yard box to Mike Clarke whose goal-bound effort was turned in by Howard.

Vics almost doubled their lead four minutes later when Howard’s shot struck the inside of a post after he collected Jimmy Ball’s pass.

City attempted to recover, and Reece Pearce beat Vics goalkeeper Dane Smith only to see his effort rebound off an upright.

Richie Bennett was then forced to clear off Vics’ line 10 minutes later from Neil Marshall’s deflected header.

It took the hosts until the hour mark to find a leveller, when Smith was beaten at his near post by Poole’s hooked shot from caretaker boss Garry Hunter’s cross.

Aaron Taylor almost put Lancaster into the lead shortly afterwards, but Smith was equal to his header.

Amis twice went close during the closing stages, only for goalkeeper Mike Hale to save on both occasions.

Brian Summerskill was introduced by Gannon on 65 minutes, and soon released rampaging replacement Josh Amis.

However the forward’s shot was saved by the legs of Lancaster custodian Mike Hale.

Amis went through again moments later, this time sent clear by an under-hit back pass from defender Jamie Street.

But he again met his match in found Hale, who saved smartly.
