RUDHEATH Social suffered a first defeat of the season in the Cheshire League’s top flight on Saturday, ending a sequence of three successive victories.

Lewis Morana twice went close for the visitors at Eagle, only to be denied by goalkeeper Craig Clare both times, before Craig Hall put the hosts ahead from a corner on 25 minutes.

Clare tipped over Sam Didsbury’s drive, while Morana glanced over a header.

In the second half, Rudheath custodian Scott Lodge produced a brilliant block to thwart Ged McAllister.

Middlewich Town hammered Grappenhall Sports in League One, establishing a four-goal lead by the break thanks to goals from Joe O’Sullivan, James Dean, Callum Priestley and Michael Evans.

Priestley and Dean doubled their personal tallies during a three-minute spell after half time to make it 6-0 before Cody Black converted a penalty for the hosts.

Evans’ second strike completed a 7-1 victory for the Witches.

In League One, Lostock celebrated back-to-back wins by beating West Didsbury & Chorlton reserves.

Robbie Jones put the Grey Lambs in front from Paul Richardson’s cross, then he turned provider for Max Linaker to prod home at the far post.

Tommy Walsh replied for West.

Cuddington came from two-goals adrift to record a first Cheshire League success of the season.

Matt Aikenhead and Lee Hendley were on target for the visitors at Norley Road, but the hosts recovered thanks to a double from Robbie Simpson.

Nathan Harwood, Ste Snape, Jake Glimond and Adam Bettley hit the net too for Mike Harwood’s men, who return to action when neighbours Lostock visit next Tuesday, kick off 6.30pm.
