DUMBARTON boss Jim Chapman believes his side are still heading in the right direction - despite their injury-time defeat at the hands of Second Division leaders Stirling Albion.

Ten-man Sons, who had Martin McNiff sent-off, led twice at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium before Scott Robertson's last-gasp effort helped the battling Binos to all three points.

But Chappie refused to be downcast and he said: "Stirling Albion are out on top on merit and we took them all the way, so although it is sickening to lose to an injury-time goal we have got to take positives from the game.

"But we put an awful lot into it and to get absolutely nothing from it is hard to take.

"However, we created enough chances to win this game and Derek Carcary had a one-on-one with their keeper and when you don't take opportunities like that it comes back to bite you.

"But if we can repeat the overall standard of our performance at East Fife on Saturday then we will be okay."

Meanwhile in Division Three, Albion Rovers took their unbeaten run to eight games with a stunning 3-0 defeat of East Stirling at Cliftonhill.

A Mark Pollock opener was followed-up by a David McFarlane double as Rovers put the game to bed before the break to go top of the basement.

And delighted Albion boss Paul Martin said: "To beat a team of the quality of East Stirling 3-0 is undoubtedly our best result and performance of the season, but we can still get better.

"I am particularly pleased for Davie McFarlane and Mark Pollock as they took their goals really well.

"The difference between this season and last is that we have that bit more about us and our younger players have the year's more experience and that is proving vital."
