OLD Star occupy top spot in the Mid Cheshire Sunday League Premier Division at the year’s end after beating closest rivals Lodge at the weekend.
Charlie Fisher’s brace, plus a goal from Will Reid, secured a 3-1 win at Knights Grange to leave the teams separated by six points at Christmas.
Elsewhere, Forest Road scored six times at lowly Broadhurst with Shaun Bradley’s hat-trick a highlight of the visitors’ success.
George & Dragon were the day’s biggest winners though, hammering hosts Top House Villa 8-1.
They are still unbeaten in the top flight this term.
In the only match played in Division One, Myprotein.com climbed to second spot in the standings following a 7-4 win at Winsford Golden Lion.
Their tally included doubles for Chris Lunn, Nathan Southern and Marc Grocott, while Andy Bott’s strike completed a comfortable victory.
