1874 NORTHWICH make their first appearance in the FA Cup against North West Counties League rivals Maine Road, to whom they lost twice last season.

However the teams’ fortunes have been in stark contrast since a two-legged meeting in the League Challenge Cup last four.

Ian Street’s men are unbeaten in three matches since being promoted to the Premier Division, while tomorrow’s opponents have kicked off the campaign with four successive defeats.

Goalkeeper Matt Conkie will reach a personal milestone on the hosts’ historic day, becoming the first player to make 50 starts since the club’s formation.

However striker Mike Brandon, also one appearance short of the same marker, is unavailable.

That leaves Andy Hurst and Dave Short to battle for place alongside Matthew Beadle, set to play against his former club, in 1874’s attack.

Midfielder Matthew Woolley is back from a holiday, and should stand-in for absent Danny Thomas.

Maine Road, victors by 6-1 on aggregate in last term’s knockout meeting, will be much-changed from the side that started those games.

Paul Connor and Beadle line up against them for Northwich, while captain Neil Chappell and Eddie Moran have signed for Glossop North End.
