WITTON Albion have signed striker Neil Harvey after he impressed during their opening pre-season friendlies.

The 30-year-old, who finished last season at Evo-Stik Northern Premier League rivals Marine following a successful spell with Hednesford Town, is manager Brian Pritchard’s sixth new signing of the summer.

“We’ll continue to try and get the best players possible to come here,” said the Witton boss.

“Neil has the qualities we’re looking for – as a player and a person – to be a success here.”

Harvey scored more than 20 times the season before last to help Hednesford to promotion to the Football Conference, including the Pitmen’s first goal in a play-off final victory against FC United of Manchester.

Before that, his haul was 27 in two terms for Marine.

Harvey came to the attention of the Crosby club after finishing as leading scorer for Retford United during their first season in the Premier Division in 2009.

Before that, he had helped them to promotion from Division One South following a brief stop in the Football League with Macclesfield Town.

He has collected six caps too for Barbados, including one in a World Cup qualifier.

With Alex Titchiner yet to feature for Witton while he recovers from an injury and Dave Walker ruled out long-term after breaking an ankle in March, Pritchard had only youngsters Scott Bakkor and Michael Koral to pick from in attack.
