Match pointers
WITTON will be desperate to put behind them a week during which a six-match unbeaten sequence ended following back-to-back defeats.

Albion conceded nine goals in reverses against Droylsden, the Premier Division’s worst team, and promotion hopefuls FC United of Manchester.

The Reds became the first visiting team to win at Wincham Park in the league since the turn of the year after Brian Pritchard’s men had won four previous Northern Premier League encounters – drawing two others – on their own pitch in 2014.

Cliff Moyo (hamstring) is a doubt after injury forced his withdrawal during half time on Tuesday, while winger Josh Hancock will be given until the latest possible moment to prove his fitness too.

New recruit Ross Davidson is in line for a first start with Michael Powell suspended for the next three games.

Visitors Grantham occupy fifth place in the form table based on results from the past half dozen matches.

However the Gingerbreads, victors in Northwich last season, have lost on three of their last four outings away from the Meres.

Their record away to Witton in the Northern Premier League is an encouraging one, avoiding defeat in their five previous visits.

They have scored too every time this season they have travelled to play a team in the table’s bottom half.

Michael Jacklin will hope to keep his place at full back despite experience Lee Ridley being ready to return, while striker Paul Grimes is likely to start from the bench.
