Match pointers
WITTON, buoyed by a midweek victory, are unbeaten in five league matches in Wincham – Albion’s best run of results on their own pitch this season.

They have avoided defeat too in the past four Premier Division encounters, closing to within four points of a position of safety in the table.

Brian Pritchard’s men will want to improve though on a tally of only nine goals in eight home games against teams from the standings’ top half.

They have reason to be encouraged when hosting Whitby, for the Seasiders have won only once at Wincham Park in seven visits to play a Northern Premier League match.

Dave Walker has been ruled out for the rest of the season after breaking an ankle in last Saturday’s draw at Stafford Rangers, though Scott Bakkor stepped up for Tuesday’s 2-1 win against Stamford – his first league goal since switching from Clitheroe earlier this season.

Whitby arrive in Northwich having lost their past three league games – their worst sequence of form to date this season.

They have won just one of their past five games away from the Turnbull, though will take heart from the fact they have scored every time their hosts have been in the table’s bottom half.

The east Yorkshire outfit remains one of the section’s best travellers, keeping the most clean sheets – seven – on the road.
