DEBUTANTS 1874 Northwich have been rewarded with a trip to League One Tranmere Rovers after progressing to the Cheshire FA Senior Cup’s quarter finals stage.

Ian Street’s men, already lauded for the best performance of the first round when they demolished league rivals Flixton Villa, defeated Cammell Laird in midweek.

It marked the first time the newly-formed club had beaten opponents from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

They now face a date with Rovers, conquerors of Warrington Town on Tuesday.

Witton Albion, should they get past Skrill North Stalybridge, will have home advantage in the last eight.

Altrincham or Stockport Sports will provide the opposition.

Thursday’s draw pitted holders Chester with Skrill Premier rivals Macclesfield while Northwich Victoria – who sent out Crewe Alexandra for the third successive season following a penalty shoot-out – must wait to discover if they will travel to Hyde or Runcorn Linnets.
