HARTFORD pulled off an amazing win at league leaders Wistaston in the Cheshire Building Society Cricket Alliance, taking 25 points and helping to further cement their position in the league.

Hartford, who were missing key players, batted first and Martin Hill (20) got the innings off to a quick start, while Gaz Stokes (25) played an unaccustomed anchor role.

Hartford could have been in trouble at 101-5 but Geoff Sharp (37) and Rob Whittle (29) saw them past the 150 mark with the innings closing on 162-7.

After tea Harkin (2-38) and Graham Prew (3-34) reduced the hosts to 40-4.

After eight dropped catches, the game seemed to be drifting to a draw until the introduction of Josh Spruce 10 overs from the end.

He removed Hogben with his first delivery and then followed it up by inducing a run out the very next ball.

Whittle removed the last three wickets to ensure victory within the last two overs.
