MICHAEL Dunning delivered the best bowling spell of his time at the Rec when Winnington Park celebrated a first win of the Cheshire League campaign.

He took eight wickets in just seven overs, three of them maidens, as the home team skittled Maritime for 81 in a Division Two encounter.

Overseas signing Tyron Young, on his debut, chipped in with 2-24.

Captain Alec Butcher (25no) and Phil Amatiello (22no) eased Park to their target, while Jonny Wales (22) contributed too as they closed on 82-2.

Oakmere were too good for their guests from Stretton, recording a 107-run success in the same section that extends a winning run to three matches.

Slade Mitrovich (96no) and Nick Guest (23) put on 75 runs for the third wicket after Adrian Stubbs (31) and Ciaran McDonnell (15) laid a foundation at the top of the order.

Skipper Craig Phelan (28) contributed too as they totalled 220-7 off 45 overs.

Stretton were sent packing for 113 after Matt Norton (2-42) and Matthew Howard (2-28) had made initial inroads.

Phelan (3-8) finished the job later on.

Middlewich lost by 54 runs at home to Chelford.

They restricted the visitors to Haddon Field to 141 all out, with Stephen Parry (3-18), James Prime (3-26) and Reece Johnson (2-43) all among the wickets.

However Middlewich struggled again at the crease, succumbing for 87.

Matt Allen (21) and Alex Gill (30) offered most resistance.

Winsford ended a wait to play their first fixture of the campaign in Division Four when they eased to a six-wicket win against Frodsham.

The home team dismantled their guests at Knights Grange for just 103 with evergreen Dave Etchells (3-27) and captain Mike Dean (2-15) leading the way.

Paul Atherton, on his return, Craig Webb and James Tierney took a wicket apiece.

Dean almost single-handedly won the game for his side with a beautifully-paced – and unbeaten – 66 after they had wobbled briefly at 69-4.

In Division One, Barnton lost by 30 runs against Lymm.

Promoted Kingsley made it back-to-back wins after squeezing past Bredbury St Mark’s at the Croft.

Needing 130 to win, they were grateful to Ben Stoddart (24), captain Toby Mullins (32) and Travis Martin (24no) for their part in a successful chase.

Adrian Burden (4-15) had been the pick of the home team’s bowlers as they dismissed the away team for 129 after winning the toss.
