WEAVERHAM’S position at the foot of Division One feels increasingly precarious after they suffered a 10th successive defeat on Saturday.
The Russets mustered 76 all out after being put in at Oxton, where Stuart Hayes (22) and Cohen McElroy – making a first appearance in almost two months after sustaining a knee injury – were the only batsmen to reach double figures.
Patrick Magann (4-26) was the pick of the home team’s bowling attack.
They were comfortable victors by seven wickets after coasting to 77-3 in reply, and captain Dane Williams (42no) led the way with seven boundaries.
A distance to third-bottom Sale, who drew with their guests Marple, is now 68 points with seven matches left.
At the opposite end of the table, Oulton Park beat Bollington by 32 runs to record an 11th win in 15 league matches this season.
Cheshire opener Danny Leech (73) was the visitors’ leading scorer as they posted 197-7, a total improved later in the innings by Matthew Jamieson (21) and Ben Gibbon (29).
The men from Little Budworth then bowed out Bolly for 165.
In-form seamer Matt Parkinson returned figures of 5-28, and now has 30 wickets for the season, while off-spinner Muhammad Kashif took 3-49.
Their team’s lead is now worth 43 points.
Second-placed Davenham continued their pursuit with a comfortable seven-wicket against lowly Warrington at Butcher’s Stile.
They knocked over the struggling visitors for 110 after putting them in, with Robin Taylor (5-22) claiming a second five-fer of the campaign.
Ryan Blackie (2-38) and Stephen Bliss (2-22) weighed in too.
The home team cruised to 112-3 in a reply that saw Sam Hunt (35no) pass 500 runs for the season after Ben Gough (29) had contributed at the top of the order.

Northwich celebrated a thrilling last-ball win at home to Mobberley in Division Two.
Chasing 148 to win, they were grateful to James Gittings for hitting the runs they needed to record a two-wicket victory.
Glinoj Cherian (43) and Mohammad Ajmal (54) had put on 55 for the fourth wicket before the latter joined captain Mark Walker (26) to add a further 82 for the fifth.
Mobberley had been knocked over for 148 earlier in the day, when Ajmal (4-28), Gittings (2-37) and Jordan McDonough (2-23) shared the wickets to fall.
