MIKE Cushion bowled a dozen maidens for Oakmere seconds at Lymm, but the visitors did not have enough runs to defend and lost by three wickets.

The home team had not covered the track overnight, making batting a challenge.

Mike Dodd (25) did his best, but the visitors were bowled out for 65 after being put in as Tony Spaven – who claimed a hat-trick in his 4-24 – and Rob Hutton claimed four wickets each.

Lymm did not reach a modest target until the 41st over, with Cushion (2-5 off 14 overs) and Pete Hutchinson (3-18) the pick of Oakmere’s attack.

Kingsley’s seconds cruised to a nine-wicket win at Stretton seconds in Division B West, where Jamie Moores (72no) and Tom Hughes (55no) shared in an unbeaten partnership worth 144 runs.

That took the Crofters to victory after they had been set a target of 159 to win.

Earlier, Isaac Radcliffe (3-24) had helped reduce the hosts to 63-5 before a stand worth 93 runs for the sixth wicket took Stretton to 158 off 38 overs.

Winnington Park’s seconds dug deep at home to their Over Peover counterparts at the Rec, where the visitors racked up 215-4 after being put in.

However the home team’s batsmen were resilient in their reply, securing a draw at 82-6 after batting for 33 overs.

Barnton seconds’ home date with Oxton’s fourths, and Winsford seconds' meeting with their counterparts from Cholmondeley, were both cancelled without a ball being bowled due to rain.
